On top of our 4 general health and wellbeing recommendations in our previous blogs we have added three extra brain specific recommendations. These are 3 quick tips that you can introduce into your lifestyle to make big improvements to your memory and brain health.
- Socialize – socializing is key for a healthy brain. Studies have shown that people living in a social community have better mental health and have a reduced chance of getting Alzheimer’s. If you are isolated and don’t get to see people often, we recommend joining local clubs and getting involved in your community.
- Mindfulness – The hectic and high-pressured lifestyle we lead today can take its toll on our brain health. Stress can be very detrimental to your overall health as well as your mental health. Stress can be reduced by implementing mindfulness techniques. Joining a yoga or meditation class can be a great way to get you started on your journey to a more balanced and calm way of life.
- Brain food – the brain has very specific nutrition needs. Foods include blueberries, nuts, eggs, oil fish like salmon, avocados. Blueberries are packed with antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the brain from the damage oxidative stress can do, helping to keep your brain cells safe.
